Ingredients

  • 4 ½ cups of Chex-type cereal rice or wheat, 360 g.
  • 2 cups of sugar 340 g.
  • ¾ cup of butter 180 g.
  • ½ cup corn syrup
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar 230 g.
  • Drops of vegetable coloring: pink lilac, and turquoise (you can choose the ones you prefer)
  • Colored dragees to decorate
  • 3 Ziploc type bags

Instructions

  • Turn the stove on to medium heat, and set out a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan. Inside the pot, pour the sugar, corn syrup, and butter. When the butter begins to melt, stir vigorously.
  • Continue stirring for about five to seven minutes until you notice large bubbles on the surface of the mixture. Turn off the kitchen. Reserve.
  • Very carefully divide the mixture into three containers of the same size. Add a drop of different food coloring to each container. Stir well.
  • Divide Chex cereal into three equal-size servings, and place each serving of cereal inside each of the colored candy bowls. Gently stir until all of the cereal is smeared with the mixture.
  • Preheat the oven to 150 ° C / 300 ° F. Cover a baking sheet with wax paper. Arrange the cereal on the tray being careful not to mix the colors. Take them to the oven, and toast them for about ten minutes. Then remove from the oven, and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • This step is optional, and it is used to color the powdered sugar that covers the Chex, this will make them look prettier. Divide the powdered sugar into three equal-size servings. Place the first serving into the blender glass. Add a drop of food coloring of your choice. And blend the sugar for about three minutes until it acquires a uniform color. If necessary, turn off the blender, remove any sugar that has stuck to the walls and blend again. Repeat with the rest of the colors.
  • Lastly, pour the colored sugar into a Ziploc bag. And put the freshly toasted cereal of the same color inside. Close the bag, and shake it until all the cereal is covered in sugar. Repeat this procedure for the other colors. If you don't want to color the sugar, just put the white sugar in a bag, and pour all the cereals together.
  • Again, divide the powdered sugar into three equal portions. Place each serving of sugar, inside each of the three bags.
  • Now, mix all the cereal colors in a large bowl. Serve in individual containers, garnish with your favorite-colored sprinkles.
